Losing a dog leaves a hole in a home that nothing seems to fill. George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth knew that feeling well after losing their beloved dog Cooper. Then a 12-week-old golden retriever puppy named Fig came along — and a new chapter began.

Cooper had been a much-loved member of the family, and his loss was felt deeply. Anyone who has lost a dog knows the quiet that follows — the empty bed, the missing footsteps, the routines that suddenly have no one in them.

George and Ali knew the joy a dog brings into a home, and after mourning Cooper, they felt ready to give another dog a chance at a happy life.

That is when they found Fig, a 12-week-old golden retriever, through the nonprofit rescue organisation 1 Love 4 Animals. From the moment he arrived, the house filled again with wagging tails and warm cuddles.

Fig’s arrival marked a new chapter — not a replacement for Cooper, but a new beginning built on the same love.

Every year, rescue organisations like 1 Love 4 Animals help countless dogs find homes. Adopting a rescue dog does not just change the dog’s life; it changes the family’s life too. Fig got a loving home, and George and Ali got a reason to smile again.

This heartwarming adoption story is a reminder of the incredible bond between dogs and their families, and of the unconditional love dogs give so freely. Cooper will always be remembered — and Fig is proof that a grieving heart can open again.
